Popliteal Artery Injuries Associated wit Fracture of the Tibia

Abstract
Blunt trauma severe enough to cause fracture of the long bones of the limb may seriously damage adjacent arteries either by direct or indirect force. Experience with the management of this complex problem is not easy to gain since the incidence of the combination of fracture -and arterial injury is relatively uncommon and diagnosis is frequently delayed until the opportunity to salvage the extremity is lost. From April 1974 to May 1975, two caess of popliteal artery occlusion assos ciated with fracture o~tfie proximal tibia were treated at the Orthopedic Department of the Capital
Armed Forces General Hospital.
